His reasoning is due to how the <em>Gemarah<\/em> terms a faulty <em>esrog<\/em> as: it \u201clooks spotted.\u201d His point is further reinforced by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rashi<\/span>; who says it matters how \u201cit appears to the eyes.\u201d <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">R\u2019 Shlomo Zalman Auerbach<\/span> says one should use the distance of a normal arms length to examine it (not up close), and that is still considered <em>Hadar<\/em> (beautiful).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>E\u2019s lesson<\/strong><\/span>: There is no absolute perfection in our physical limited capabilities. Even a \u201cperfect esrog\u201d under an electron microscope will reveal some \u2018flaws.\u2019 G-d teaches us that it is not about what we ultimately accomplish, but rather the efforts we strive to attain. If you search and find an esrog that \u201clooks\u201d to be beautiful, in the Halachick realm, it becomes as if it actually is. Physicality helps to define what spirituality is; and spirituality then redefines our physicality. We are \u201cpartners\u201d in G-d\u2019s constant creation.
