Even when to motive is actually good and proper, one must not act before consulting his\/her spouse [especially if the other will be left with more of a burden (ie: going out of the house to Daven Maariv with a Minyan and missing out on bath time for the children)]. Increasing one\u2019s own level of spirituality while sacrificing or harming a home or relationship is contrary to true Jewish beliefs. Hashem expects us to serve others to in turn serve Him.
