Proper LEARNING

[16b top] Rava: Anyone who is engaged in the study of Torah learning from within the confines of the Beis Medrash (study hall) can be assured that his learning will proclaim him abroad to the world.
Benayahu: This means that if a person studies Torah for its own sake in the Beis Medrash and interacts with other scholars there, he will merit to interpret the law correctly, his Torah decisions will be accepted by his colleagues, and his teachings will be repeated in his name throughout the community (thus proclaiming his name abroad).

T’s Lesson: Many times we think it better just to study Torah at home or on the way to work, leaving the Beis Medrash to the “Kollel guys.” The Gemarah teaches us how much better it is to avail ourselves of learning in a Shul or Beis Medrash even for a few minutes and maybe we too can be worthy to spreading Torah to the world at large.
