[30a top] Braisa: There are various permissible ways to carry a barrel on Yomtov [using different Shinuys (variations from the norm)]. One may use different holders for transportation and another method is by even simply placing a sheet over the barrel, to remind one that something is different here and there is awareness brought out that today is a Holy Day.
E’s Lesson: We need constant reminders throughout our own lives to REMEMBER what we need to keep our focus on. We are told to wear Tzitzis to remember the Mitzvos (the knots and strings add up to the 613 commandments) [and this message is more clearly recognized when the strings are worn out and visible]. We must safeguard our lives in whatever additional ways we deem appropriate for ourselves (ie: reciting a meditative prayer once daily) to keep our minds and bodies on track for what our soul REALLY wants deep down inside.
