DIVIDING DIADEMS

[2a top] Mishnah: If two people were riding on an animal, and each of them claims that he owns the animal, [each should swear that they do not own less than half of the animal, and] they should then split the animal.
Biurei Chassidus quoting Ohr Pinei Moshe: This is referring to the Yetzer Tov (good inclination) and the Yetzer Hara (evil inclination) that try to claim control of an ‘animal.’ They each scream that the person is all their own. While the physical body wants everything for itself, the soul also wants everything for itself, and the answer is to ‘split it.’

D-E-ep Thoughts: We obviously need to be involved in physical activities (like eating and sleeping) to survive, but everything we do should all be channeled through proper spiritual intentions. Instead of divorcing ourselves from physicality, our missions are to uplift everything around us and bring G-d’s light forth from every object we come in contact with.
