SUICIDAL SUPPORT

[72b bottom] The Gemarah discusses cases in which a person thinks he is going to die and makes stipulations based on that assumption.
R’ Rosner explaining Chashukei Chemed: Even when people are in pain and are working under assumptions of near death, physicians are not allowed to assist in suicide [and even though a doctor would be liable to a death penalty for doing so, if a patient is asking for it, it is questionable if another individual would be allowed to kill the doctor to stop the process].

D-E-ep Thoughts: Every person has an allotted time to be in this world. No one would be able to shorten or lengthen another’s life if it was not G-d’s will for it to be so. Never-the-less, we are all still rewarded and punished based on our actions. Even though it may have been someone’s time to be done in this world, we are not permitted to have any part in making that become a reality. We should remember that we are not acting to produce physical results, but only willing to supply spiritual positivity through our intentions.
