TIMELESS TOWERS

[42a bottom] Gemarah: If a master calls his servant a “slave” while attempting to free him, it still works to sever the relationship (as human speech is not always exacting).
R’ Rosner explaining Shor Mitzyonim Behalacha quoting Maharit: But when G-d uses words, they are extremely specific and exacting. [Mishnah in Megillah]: When Hashem says, “I will make desolate your Mikdash (Holy place),” even though the building may no longer be in physical existence, the Holiness of the place endures forever (which is why Hashem still calls it Mikdash).

D-E-ep Thoughts: People age, fruits rot, and towers fall. Everything physical wears away and degrades with time, but what we create spiritually is everlasting. We should always focus our main energies into “buildings” that will remain standing strong eternally.
