INDICATING INTENTIONS

[13b middle] Gemarah: If a man is on his way out to be executed, going overseas, or heading on a caravan through a desert [and is not likely to return alive] (in all these cases he is stressed and not in his correct full frame of mind), and tells others to just to write a Get for his wife (so she would not be forced into a Yebum/Chalitza situation if they have no children yet), even though he did not fully specify to GIVE it to her as well, the Rabbis instruct people to fulfill his request as intended completely.

D-E-ep Thoughts: Often times we are too quick to correct someone’s grammar, just for the sake of being right, and prompting a response of “You know what I mean…” We have to recognize that many times there are no ‘proper’ reasons to criticize others. We should take other people’s intentions to heart when we listen to them and help others succeed we when are placed in situations that enable us to be their messengers.
