SUBVERSIVE SPEECH

[104a top] Rebbe was deathly ill and the Rabbis decreed a public fast day while crying to the Heavens for his recovery. They announced that if anyone would say that Rebbe died, that person would be stabbed with a sword (as they did not want Rebbe’s death to come into fruition, the Rabbis not want anyone to stop praying for him).

D-E-ep Thoughts: Our words are much more powerful than we can ever know. We must always take care to speak in the positive, and never wish or even mention the possibility of bad/evil in relation to ourselves or other people (and if people do, they should immediately follow it with “G-d forbid”). Words have spiritual and physical creative capabilities and should always be careful analyzed before they are spoken.
