DOUBTFUL CIRCUMSTANCES

[80b top] R’ Pappa: Yehudah Mar bar Mereimar quoted Rava’s opinion (as a statement), but his reasoning was in actuality incorrectly only based on an observation of an incident.
Rashbam: Whenever a Rabbi is quoted in action, we may not just assume reasoning for actions and must rather know the logic held by the authority.
R’ Rosner: R’ Moshe Feinstein once was observed at a Bris picking up one bottle of orange juice, but then using a different one. His students asked him later what he thought was not appropriate or unKosher about the first bottle. The Rav simply answered that the bottle was empty!

D-E-ep Thoughts: We must always be careful to properly analyze situations and never jump to conclusions. We should not distort our minds with faulty assumptions and be cautious not to negatively impact many lives around us as well. Additionally, we should try to act in G-d’s ways and emulate His workings. Just as Hashem only creates things in absolute terms (either it is in existence or it is not made at all), we should also avoid creating “confusional” states for others to fall into doubt.
