CORRECTIVE ACTION

[74a middle] Rava: If part of a sacrifice was left over until morning (violating a negative commandment not to do so), there is a new positive commandment to burn it, “Lav Hanitak Le’ase.”
Rashi: There is no punishment (for violating this prohibition) because the makeup/Ase is its correction [although if there ‘corrective action’ is nullified one may become liable to a punishment].

D-E-ep Thoughts: ‘Punishments’ are not given out of retribution but rather as a means of correction. G-d wants us all to do well in this world and accomplish greatness. Sometimes, slaps in the face are needed to get us turned back onto the proper course [even Gehenom/Hell is a means for a cleansing/purification process]. May we always be thankful for the good and seemingly ‘bad’ in our lives and take appropriate corrective action without needing too much of a push.
