[51b bottom] Ben Azzai: There is validity to a second Ma’amar (“engagement” of a Yavam to Yevamah) performed after an original Ma’amar in the case of two Yevamin (males) [who each do the Ma’mar one after the other] to one Yevamah (female). But, there is no validity to a second Ma’amar after an original Ma’amar in the case of two Yevamos (females) and one Yavam (male) [when he tries to use Ma’amar a second time on an addition Yevamah girl, it is meaningless because he already used up his one-time Rabbinical Ma’amar power].

Prac-T-cal Tidbits: Sometimes we want to grab as much as we can in this world, in our “take all” society. We think we can grab everything at once. In truth, we needs to work on one thing at a time. We should focus our efforts on one matter at hand before moving on to any others. Otherwise, we may reach for everything and end up with nothing.
